Instructions
- Your APC Back-UPS ES 550 was designed to be hot swappable. This means that you do not need to unplug the UPS system from the wall in order to replace the battery.
- Place the UPS system on its side with the base (the base will have the tab that depresses to remove the battery cover) facing you. This is the easiest way to remove the battery cover.
- Once the UPS is on its side, depress the tab and remove the battery tray to reveal your used APC RBC battery that is still connected to your UPS ES 550 unit.
- Carefully slide the battery out so that you have access to the battery terminal connections. You will need to disconnect both wires from the battery (be careful to not let the wires touch each other or other terminals). - You may hear beeping noises from your APC ES 550 unit. The UPS unit is sensing that the battery has been disconnected from the UPS system.
- Take the new battery and connect it to the wiring harness making sure that the positive wire is connected to the positive terminal and the negative wire is connected to the negative terminal. Raion Power battery terminals are color coded to help ensure the wires are properly connected to the correct terminals.
- Take the battery and securely slide the battery back into the battery compartment of the APC Back-UPS ES 550 unit and slide the battery tray cover into position until the tab clicks (the click indicates that the tray is locked)
- Your UPS system is now ready for use and the red replace battery light will disappear. It may take a few hours for your UPS unit to fully charge the battery if not already charged. Raion Group voltage matches and top charges all batteries prior to shipment so your initial charge time will be drastically shorter in comparison to our competitors products.
Conclusion
It is important to replace your APC RBC batteries with Raion Power high quality replacement batteries when your APC ES 550 indicates to do so (the red light will flash on the device indicating you have a bad battery). This will ensure that when there are power outages, you have the confidence that your UPS system will keep your data and equipment powered & protected.
